How it works

Your one-rep max (1RM) is the heaviest weight you can lift once. We estimate it from a set of up to 12 reps with the Epley formula and show loads for strength and hypertrophy training.

Frequently asked questions

Is testing a true 1RM safe?

It can be risky without experience and a spotter. Estimating from a 3–10 rep set is safer for most people.
